6. The sound intermittently cuts out when I listen to my music through Elmedia Player. What may cause this and how to fix it?
This problem may happen for plenty of reasons, ranging from misconfigured wireless connection and poor signal to overtaxed network and radio frequency interference. Make sure you are using recommended settings for your Wi-Fi router. If you suspect interference with nearby devices, try to turn them off temporarily. Your AirPlay connection might also get interrupted when you lock or put your device to sleep or switch to a different app.
7. What if I cannot discover or connect to my device from my Mac?
If you are positive that your iOS device and your Mac running Elmedia Player are on the same network and that your network connection is properly configured, try to do the following:
- Turn off/on Wi-Fi on your iOS device.
- Toggle AirPlay off/on in Elmedia Player Preferences.
- Power cycle your iOS device (turn it off, wait for 5 seconds, turn back on).
- Restart your router.
- Check your router settings. Some routers have a special security setting called network isolation or wireless isolation that prevents wireless clients from communicating with each other. If your router has such option enabled, turn it off. Also make sure that your router is running the latest firmware, which you can usually download from the manufacturer's website.
- If you are using Elmedia Player in a corporate network, check with your network administrator on whether multicast routing is enabled on the network. It is required for discovery, but if disabled, and your computer supports Wi-Fi, you can set up an ad-hoc network to bypass these limitations and get Elmedia Player to work.
8. What ports are used by Elmedia Player for AirPlay streaming?
TCP 5000 and TCP 7000.
9. Does Elmedia Player support ad-hoc networks?
Yes, you can create an ad-hoc network on your computer and connect your iOS device directly to it. This is the way to go if your network settings prevent you from using Elmedia Player and you have no means to adjust it.
To learn how to create a computer-to-computer ad-hoc network on a Mac, follow this link.
10. How to set a password and why might I need one?
Elmedia Player running on your Mac will be listed on any iOS device connected to the same network. Anyone who sees your computer will be able to stream media to it, unless you set up a password.
You can configure your AirPlay security settings in Elmedia Player Preferences.
No password is required to be set by default. To set it select Password from the drop-down menu and type in a password of your choice. This password will be asked on any device attempting to connect to Elmedia Player via AirPlay.
You can also choose the preferred behavior on connection: Elmedia Player will either connect and start playback immediately (Connect and Play), or prompt you to accept the connection first (Request access).

AirPlay from Elmedia Player
1. Can I adjust audio volume with Elmedia Player while streaming to an Apple TV?
No, you can't. Elmedia Player streams media by means of the AirPlay protocol, and due to its limitations, volume can only be adjusted on the target device itself. You can normally do this with your Apple TV's remote control.

No, currently this functionality is not supported.

Starting from version 6.6, Elmedia Player automatically converts all streamed media to the format understandable by the Apple TV, so you are no longer limited in the format choice (see also question 10 above).
The only exception is online videos (opened through File → Open Online Video or otherwise), for which only the following formats are currently supported:
